Caddis vs.
Vicci Eyewear

What You Will Learn

  • Is Caddis or Vicci Eyewear better for progressive lenses?
  • How does Caddis compare to Vicci Eyewear for prescription eyewear?
  • What do Caddis and Vicci Eyewear customers say on Trustpilot?

Caddis has built one of the most recognizable readers brands in the country. If you're over 40, you've probably seen the playful acetate colors and the lifestyle campaigns that treat needing reading glasses as something to celebrate rather than hide.

For readers, Caddis has done a real service to the category. Once the prescription gets more complicated, progressive lenses, custom Rx, single vision, the model starts to show its limits.

Vicci Eyewear starts from the opposite direction. Vicci isn't a readers brand that added progressive lenses to its catalog, it's a prescription eyewear brand built specifically for women who need progressives, single vision, progressive readers, or readers.

This page breaks down exactly where the two brands diverge. The comparison uses Trustpilot data, return policy details, and board-certified optometrist opinions.

The Bottom Line

Vicci Eyewear is the stronger choice for women who need progressive lenses and demand precision optics, premium materials, and white-glove service. Caddis is primarily a reading glasses brand targeting the 40+ demographic. Vicci Eyewear’s 4.5 out of 5 Trustpilot rating, 90-day return policy, and complimentary 1:1 consultation make it the clear choice for progressive lens wearers.

Are Caddis Progressive Lenses As Precise As Vicci Eyewear's?

A progressive lens and a reading glass are fundamentally different optical products, even though they're often sold by the same brand. A reader corrects vision at one fixed distance, roughly 14 to 18 inches from your face.

A progressive has to blend three focal zones (distance, intermediate, reading) into a single lens. The corridor must be mapped precisely to your frame height, pupillary distance, and fitting height.

Caddis is a readers-first brand. Progressive lenses were added to the catalog as an extension of a line built for reading glasses, they're an option, not the core design focus.

The frames weren't originally engineered around progressive lens corridor requirements. That's why Caddis doesn't offer a 1:1 progressive fitting consultation or frames purpose-built for progressive wearers.

Vicci Eyewear was built around progressives from day one. Every frame silhouette is designed with the lens height and corridor width progressives require.

Every order is supported by a free 1:1 consultation and backed by a 90-day worry-free exchange.

Vicci Eyewear
Built for One Woman. Designed to Get Her Noticed.
Vicci Eyewear was founded for women who refuse to compromise on style or vision quality. Whether single vision, progressive, progressive readers, or readers, every frame is fashion-forward and designed with the discerning woman in mind. Most collections are limited-edition. Every customer has access to a 1:1 consultation with an eyewear expert. The brand exists for one customer: a woman who wants to see clearly and look extraordinary doing it.
Caddis
Built for the 40+ Crowd. Lifestyle Eyewear.
Caddis is a lifestyle eyewear brand targeting the 40+ demographic. The catalog spans reading glasses, sunglasses, blue light glasses, and progressive lenses across a unisex collection. Progressive lenses are one product line among several, not the brand's core specialty. Caddis does not offer a formal 1:1 fitting consultation or frames engineered specifically around progressive lens corridor requirements.

The Science Behind the Lens

Every Vicci Eyewear prescription lens is manufactured using advanced nano-structure lens technology developed after years of optical research. The result is a lens that outperforms standard progressive lens manufacturing on every measurable dimension.

How Long Does It Take To Adjust To Caddis vs. Vicci Progressive Lenses?

Most Vicci Eyewear customers adapt to their progressive lenses within 1 to 2 days. The standard adaptation period for progressive lenses, including for Caddis progressive orders, is 10 to 14 days.

The variable isn't the customer, it's the lens. A lens whose corridor is narrower or whose fitting height is mapped to a generic frame gives the brain more visual noise to filter, so neuro-adaptation takes longer.

Vicci's precision lens manufacturing produces a wider clear corridor and less peripheral distortion. That's why adaptation happens in 1 to 2 days rather than two weeks.

Industry Standard
10–14
Days to Adapt

For the vast majority of patients, the standard progressive lens adaptation period is 10 to 14 days. The brain requires up to two weeks to learn the new visual layout through a process called neuro-adaptation.

Vicci Eyewear
1–2
Days to Adapt

Vicci Eyewear customers typically adapt to their progressive lenses within 1 to 2 days. The precision of Vicci Eyewear’s lens manufacturing reduces peripheral distortion and widens the clear visual corridor - accelerating the brain’s adaptation process significantly.

What Optical Professionals Say

Progressive lens fitting requires precision that generic online ordering cannot fully replicate. Here is what credentialed optometrists who have worked with Vicci Eyewear say about progressive lens quality and the importance of proper fitting.

“Reading glasses and progressive lenses are fundamentally different optical products. A reading glass corrects vision at one fixed distance. A progressive lens requires precise corridor mapping, fitting height, and frame geometry to support three distinct focal zones. Patients who try to treat them as interchangeable often end up with lenses that simply don’t perform the way they should.”

“Progressive readers are not just about vision correction; they represent a fusion of style, comfort, and advanced lens technology that can significantly enhance your quality of life. I’ve witnessed the positive impact that progressive readers can have on my patients. I highly recommend progressive readers because they offer the ability to support a more active lifestyle - reducing eye strain, improving focus, and enhancing comfort throughout the day.”

“They sent me an email after I placed an order saying the prescription was outdated which was not true. I clarified this for them. Then they didn’t like that my doctor’s signature was not on my prescription. They then made a big deal that I challenged them at the time of my last order a year ago, that they didn’t have an NPI number required by my insurance company. They do not want to do business with people who have ordinary needs.”

“When purchasing eye glasses you can’t know for sure until you receive them if they are the right fit etc. I like how they look on the website however when I received them they just do not work for my face. I was willing to find another frame. I tried multiple other options on the website but they were either not available in the magnification I need or color I wanted. The outcome is me donating to CADDIS via restocking fee and paying the return shipping to do so. Bad business!”

“i purchased these glasses. they are very nice and seemingly sturdy, but for one pair I purchased, the arm cracked when I used the suggested method for tightening them (no screw tightening); you have to use heating method. The second pair I got became so loose as to become unwearable and did not respond to heating method. I wanted to love these because they are beautiful, but I paid $220 for 7 months of wear, then had the replacement pair for only three months of wear - this is not worth it! They will only warranty one pair. So I am out. I take good care of them and did not do anything beyond ordinary use.”

“Ordered a pair of glasses online was charged eight dollars shipping with an arrival date of four business days. It’s now been almost a month and have not received the glasses. They’ve been tracked all over the place and then eventually sent back to Utah one of their representatives had the nerve to text me a week ago (unsolicited), trying to sell me a pair of glasses as I’ve been on their website when I explained the situation to Her only comment was I’m really sorry. Maybe you should contact our customer support team. Terrible customer experience I will deny the charge on my credit card.”

“I was really hopeful about these glasses, but what a disappointment. I ordered progressive readers, got delivered glasses with no prescription. Plus a lens was scratched. Customer service was not helpful. I sent a few emails, had to call them. Offered me 10% off and to expedite shipping but would be 5-7 business days to get the glasses made. When I asked to speak to a manager, was told they would call right back. Never for the call. Took almost two weeks to get them and then have to wait another two weeks for the correct pair to arrive. Bummer, the frames are cool but time to get product and customer service are substandard for paying close to $200 for readers.”

“I ordered classic readers with clear lenses. The frames are beautiful but the lenses are awful. There is a weird tint to them and they are uncomfortable to look through. I cannot read clearly despite having other readers with the same correction. Also? These glasses are over $100 -- they’re premium reading glass and yet there are no free returns. You have to pay $8 to return. Ridiculous. I will never buy from them again.”

“I do like the finished product of the glasses. However, it took several bent pairs, a wrong pair with the wrong prescription, a right pair with tons of fingerprints (not a big deal but just unprofessional), along with hopefully just returning the bad pair and waiting another two weeks to get the other correct pair. Not impressed. And bummed bc I do want to like this company. The frames seem to be good quality otherwise.”

“When I received mine, they were tight on my head, squeezing my temples and uncomfortable. They felt uncomfortable on the bridge of my nose and there’s no way I’ll ever wear them. When I asked about the return policy I was told these were final sale and they were not returnable. I did not see that when I placed the order. Now I’m stuck with a pair of glasses. Caddis - good luck staying in business.”

“Good morning, I need to return one of the pairs of reading glasses I ordered as they fit too small -- even though the Caddis website indicates they fit ‘large to extra large.’ The original price was $145. I purchased the Muzzy Readers at a discount of 21% which makes the price I paid for the Muzzy’s $114.55. When I received the return label and order to send the Muzzy readers back I discovered that not only do I have to pay shipping costs to have them shipped back but I also only receive a return credit of $68.49. The math in this return makes no sense at all and is a joke. The glasses I’m returning are not custom and have never been worn. Why would I not receive the $114.55 plus tax that I paid for the readers? Additionally, almost all high-end websites offer free shipping and free returns. It’s disappointing that Caddis Life receives the benefit of selling products under ‘high end’ terms but returns them to their customers under ‘discount store/drug store’ terms. I have purchased eight pairs of readers in the past 24 months. I will never ever purchase from Caddis Life again.”

Common Questions About Caddis vs. Vicci Eyewear

Are Vicci Eyewear progressive lenses better than Caddis?
For progressive lens wearers specifically, Vicci is the specialist.
Caddis is a lifestyle readers brand where progressives are one product line within a catalog built primarily around reading glasses. Vicci holds a 4.5 / 5 Excellent Trustpilot rating, Caddis holds a 1.9 / 5 Poor rating.
What is Vicci Eyewear’s return policy compared to Caddis?
Vicci offers 90 days. Caddis offers 60 days. That's a 50% longer risk-free window.
Vicci also backs every purchase with a 365-Day Frame and Lens Guarantee covering both craftsmanship and optical performance. Vicci does not charge restocking fees on custom Rx returns.
Are Vicci Eyewear frames designed specifically for women?
Caddis is a strong brand for reading glasses. For progressive lenses specifically, the product is an extension of a readers-first catalog rather than a dedicated specialty.
That shows up in the brand's 1.9 Trustpilot rating and the absence of a 1:1 progressive fitting consultation.
Customers who want colorful, affordable readers often love Caddis, customers who specifically need a multi-focal progressive lens tend to get a better result from a progressive specialist.
Does Vicci Eyewear offer a free consultation before purchasing?
Yes. Vicci Eyewear offers complimentary 1:1 consultations with an eyewear expert. During the consultation the expert reviews the customer’s prescription, helps select the right frame, and guides through lens options. Caddis does not offer a formal 1:1 consultation service.
Does Vicci Or Caddis Have A Better Membership Program?
Vicci+ is a paid membership at $39 per month. The $39 converts directly to store credit, so it functions as a prepaid credit balance plus benefits. Members receive 10% off all orders, free priority shipping, and early access to every limited-edition drop.
Caddis offers a points-based rewards program but not a paid membership with store-credit conversion.
How long does it take to adapt to Vicci Eyewear progressive lenses?
Most Vicci Eyewear customers adapt to their progressive lenses within 1 to 2 days. The industry standard adaptation period for progressive lenses is 10 to 14 days. The precision of Vicci Eyewear’s lens manufacturing, including wider visual corridors and reduced peripheral distortion - significantly accelerates the neuro-adaptation process.
Are Caddis Readers Better Than Vicci Readers?
If "better" means more colorful acetates and a lifestyle brand aesthetic focused on the 40+ crowd, Caddis is competitive in that space.
If "better" means prescription accuracy, lens quality, Italian acetate construction, and a 90-day return policy with expert consultation, Vicci is the stronger product. The right answer depends on whether you're shopping for an accessory or for prescription eyewear.
